Mitchell Tyrer

A freelance Cinematographer and Photographer in the Denver, Colorado area.  I am classically trained in analog film and have been sporadically making videos and films for ten years now.   Tech savvy and fearless, I am a great addition to any project big or small as I love to collaborate and help bring stories to life.

I have been pursing film and video work since I was a senior in high school (2007), shooting and editing both a feature documentary and a feature length narrative film as part of their video curriculum. From there I went to Columbia College Chicago where I obtained my Bachelor's in Film and Video Production concentrating in Cinematography (2011). What made Columbia a great choice was that I was taught by working instead of just the theory, as well as requiring me to learn all aspects of the production process by doing
several jobs on different collaborative experiences. Spending most of my college career on a sound stage in either the camera and lighting departments, taught me many skills as well has how to think on your feet and
solve unforeseen problems quickly.

In terms of my post production work I edit all of my own projects be it video or stills. I have been cutting everything I have created as a director/producer, some of which was even edited by hand with a razor blade and a splicing block. Digitally, I used to work only in Final Cut Pro 7 but
when they released Final Cut Pro X and took away a lot of features, I made the transition to the Adobe Creative Suite where I taught myself all of the programs applying my theory and a few tutorials to achieve my vision on each
project respectively
